FamilyGate Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
FamilyGate runs entirely on your Mac. We don't operate any servers, and we don't collect, sell or share any personal data.
What FamilyGate stores, on your Mac only
- The devices on your home network (names, hardware addresses, network addresses) and the people you assign them to
- Your filtering rules, schedules and settings
- A log of website lookups that FamilyGate blocked or redirected to SafeSearch, kept for 30 days. Allowed lookups are not logged
- If you connect an OpenWrt router, its password, kept in the macOS Keychain
What leaves your Mac
- Website lookups from filtered devices that are allowed are forwarded to the DNS resolver you choose in Settings (Cloudflare by default), the same way any home router does. That resolver's own privacy policy applies
- Once a day, FamilyGate downloads public category blocklists. These downloads contain no information about you or your family
What FamilyGate never does
FamilyGate contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code. It never decrypts or inspects the content of anyone's internet traffic.
Deleting your data
You can delete all FamilyGate data by uninstalling the helper in Settings, deleting the app, and removing ~/Library/Application Support/FamilyGate.store.
